You knew I could not stay away too long... please visit me at my new blog, Nectar & Light...
I was hoping to not have to do this, but I will be taking a bit of a sabbatical from the blog world. Just when I thought I would be able to dedicate more time to it, things have changed - life is so unexpected. I can assure you that everything is fine and I will be peeking in to my favorite reads on the left-hand side from time to time. So be well and have a wonderful 2008 - if and when I am able to make a return in the near future - it will be with a bang!
I just wanted to give my readers a quick update and apologize for not being around much. I have been a bit overwhelmed as of late and made the difficult decision to close down Juniper Design & Ink as of 20 December. I simply had too many balls in the air and something had to give. I want to thank all of you who have supported my little store over the last two years - it was a truly wonderful ride. And on that note, all jewelry in the shop is up to 40% off - so shop before the 20th!
I truly hope that my new direction will allow more time for Athena Says in the coming year - it is a passion of mine and being a part of the online design community is very important to me. So stay tuned... and I have a wonderful, exciting new collaboration to announce in the coming weeks - it couples two of my greatest passions and it allows me play with a dear friend - I am so excited to share the news... soon!

Five weird/random things you probably don't know about me:
1. I have a weird obsession with smelling everything {well - most things}; I love to just stick my nose right in there and take a long, deep breath...
2. I am OCD when it comes to food - and it is even worse when I am pregnant; a piece of toast warmed just passed its prime and I can dissolve into tears {when I am pregnant - when I am not there is a great deal of cursing and re-toasting}...
3. I truly have to restrain myself from not slamming my car into someone who has just tossed a cigarette out the window - it disgusts beyond belief...
4. I love the smell of band-aids {see no.1}
5. When I was younger I had a habit of pinching the end of my nose. Now I have a little indention there on each side... {see above} yes, weird.
I tag:
The rules are:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog;
2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird;
3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs;
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Holiday cards and postcards just arrived at Fieryeyed Photography - set of each set to choose from!
Yet, another leap - as debuted on Design*Sponge this morning, I have opened a new shop featuring some of my photography... have a peek!
I was so honored to see Grace of Design*Sponge feature my food photography and new shop on her amazing blog this morning - thank you, thank you!
A busy week usually means not a lot of time behind the lens - I shot this after unwrapping AE after her morning nap...

Have a truly lovely weekend...
Lately, I have found myself really drawn to monochromatic interiors - lack of color does not always equate to boring. I love the feel of this space - the pink is such a fun and unexpected twist for a holiday setting - and of course the Victoria Ghost Chairs are the icing on the cake...

I am smitten with this grouping of images... so lovely - it just feels like fall...
{November 2007 issue of Gourmet}
Love the photography, loves the clothes, love the home goods - really love the 100% recycled paper catalog... I love Toast.
I finally got a roll of film through my Holga this week - about half of the images turned out - the other half were just flooded with light - not sure if this means I should be taping my camera or not...
p.s. you can vote for the image above here - thank you ;)

I am in LOVE with not only the work by illustrator Keri Smith, but her visionary as an artist as well. You must check out her blog, her book that I have just added to my wishlist and this link which seeks to change the way we all see art. Discovered here.
Still can't get enough of grays and silvers... lovely new pieces at Brocade Home.
I was so excited to hear that some of my favorite bloggers have launched new retail sites this month. Jessica of Shiny Squirrel, whose art/fashion blog is beyond inspiring, has opened a shop under the same name. She has an incredible eye for art and fashion and has stocked her shop with some of the most moving artists of our generation - the selection of clothing - the dresses are particularly lust-worthy. {art above by Olivia Jefferies and Nicole Poko available at Shiny Squirrel}
On the other side of the world, Louise and Gracia of Elsewhere and Hammer & Daisy have opened a new shop stocked full of their own delightful creations. I can not get enough of their art books and pencil cases myself. Equally exciting is new collaborative Zine called Have Wheels, Will Go - I LOVE this idea and have already submitted my photo - be sure to get yours in as all participants receive a free copy of the Zine! Congrats Ladies - everything looks so beautiful!
... and a leap of faith. I have decided to just go for it and have become a member of the JPG Magazine community. If you are not familiar with the magazine or site - it is a truly inspiring read and a completely motivating site. I have submitted this photo {edited: changed my mind!} for Issue 14 - if you like it - I would be honored for your vote - thank you so much for peeking!

I am so in love with Abigail Percy's work - she is by no means new news to most of you - but I just needed to spread the love...
As I begin to take my photography a bit more seriously - just a bit - I hope to share a new image every week with you from my own portfolio as well as images that have truly inspired me throughout the week*. The photo above was shot on the September Omaha Flickr Group Walk at the Forest Lawn Cemetery...

For sometime, I have been wanting to blog about my Anam Cara {my Soul Friend} Amy Haney. Her work is not only inspiring, it is incredibly complex and full of emotion. What I love about her work is the diversity of media - she works in watercolors, oils, she sews, she prints and creates shelters... she is amazing {did I mention she is a marathon runner}. Click here for her portfolio and here for her wonderful blog in which she updates regularly with new work.
On my wishlist...
~ Diamond Rings Bracelet by Saundra Messinger
~ Star Crossed Cardi from Anthropologie catalog
~ Beaded Velvet Clutch at Banana Republic
~ Distressed Metallic Mary Janes at J.Crew
... at Juniper.
I have always loved the beautiful creations by Jenny Vorwaller, but this new collection has completely captivated my heart and soul - sublimely gorgeous...

As if I don't have enough on my plate {ha-ha}, I have started a food blog! For my regular readers, you may remember my background in the culinary arts - it is something that has always been a passion - I hope you can find some inspiration in my kitchen!
Gorgeous illustrations by artists Kate Wilson - I love everything from the delicacy of the line and color to the paper she works on - beautiful.
Fall 2007 to debut next week at Juniper - and look for the new 'Jessica' bracelet in the October issue of Redbook!
